How to Make Perfect Dosa – Parboiled Rice Recipes

In India, Parboiled Rice is using to make many delicious recipes, especially for breakfast.

Idly and Dosa are the most famous Indian breakfast. It is considered as on the healthiest breakfasts in Indian cuisine and Dosa is an Iconic breakfast of south Indian cuisine. There are lots of different varieties of Dosa made in south India, now it became globally famous and also called Indian pancakes. 

The secret of perfect dosa that matters all in the batter. The basic ingredient for dosa batter is parboiled rice and urad dhal, these are the major ingredients used traditionally but now a few other ingredients also used to make varieties of dosa. For the best dosa the proportion of dal and the rice are the key. Then all the ingredients soaked for at least 4-6 hours and ground in a fine batter and allowed for fermentation at least for 8 hours.

To make things simple, today we came up with a simple dosa recipe with no proposition and no fermentation.  This simple parboiled rice dosa will make you enjoy your breakfast with no hassle.

Ingredients:

  • Parboiled Rice – 2 cups
  • Grated coconut – 2 tbsp
  • Salt

Method:

  • Rinse and clean the rice well and soak it overnight or at least for 8 hours. 
  • Transfer the rice into a blender and add in the grated coconut.
  • Add an ample amount of water and grind them finely.
  • The consistency of the batter should be thin without any lumps.
  • Transfer the batter into a jar, add salt as per taste and mix well.
  • Grease a hot Tawa with oil or ghee.
  • Pour the dosa batter on a hot Tawa and spread it evenly in a circular shape.        
  • Cover it with a lid and let it cook for a minute. Flip the dosa and cook the other side as well.
  • Repeat the same step after greasing the Tawa for more dosa.
  • Serve hot with your favorite curry or chutney.
